Tadao Ichikawa

Award Recipient

Featured ImageTadao Ichikawa was born in Kyoto, Japan, on 11 May 1936. He received a PhD degree in engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan. Since 1979, he has been a professor in the Department of Engineering at Hiroshima University. In the summer of 1972, he was a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Computer Science of the University of Iowa, Iowa City. From 1962 to 1968, he worked for Kokusai Denshin Denwa Co., Ltd. in the Research and Development Laboratories. His current research interests are image processing and related computer architectures. He organized the panel sessions "Architecture for Pattern Recognition Applications" and "Associative Processors-Why Are They Needed? What Can We Expect in the Future?" at the National Computer Conferences in 1977 and 1979, respectively. He is co-editor with K. S. Fu of "Special Computer Architectures for Pattern Processing" (CRC Press, 1981). Ichikawa is a member of the Institute of Electronics and Communication Engineers. He is an IEEE Fellow.
