Liang-Jie Zhang

Award Recipient

Featured ImageLiang-Jie Zhang (LJ) is currently a Senior Vice President, Chief Scientist, and Director of Research at Kingdee International Software Group Company Limited, where he leads innovations of services transformation and products' architectures. Prior to this position, he was a research staff member (RSM) and program manager of application architectures and realization at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, where he led the R&D of the custom solution engagement cloud. He was also the worldwide leader of IBM's SOMA Modeling Environment (SOMA-ME), which has been successfully used in multi-billion-dollar projects. He co-led IBM SOA Solution Stack, which has been adopted by The Open Group as the foundation for its SOA Reference Architecture standard. He has published more than 140 technical papers in journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings.

Dr. Zhang has received numerous outstanding accomplishment awards from IBM, an Outstanding Achievement Award by the World Academy of Sciences, and an Innovation Leadership Award from Chinese Institute of Electronics. He has 40 granted patents and more than 20 pending patent applications. Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. of Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Control from Tsinghua University. He completed both IBM Services Business Leadership Today (SBLT) Program and IBM Research's MicroMBA Program in 2006. Dr. Zhang has been elevated to 2011 IEEE Fellow for contributions to service-oriented technologies and applications. He is also an ACM Distinguished Scientist.

Dr. Zhang currently serves as the editor-in-chief of IEEE Transactions on Services Computing (TSC). He also chaired the 2010 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Cloud Computing (CLOUD 2010) and its sister conferences. Currently he is a director of the Governing Board of The Open Group.
