LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., (15 June 2026) – The IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS) Board of Governors has officially approved the slate of candidates for the 2026 election. This is your opportunity to voice your vision and select the leaders who will guide our society forward. Your vote helps choose our next president-elect, vice president, and the new members of the Board of Governors.

Voting Closes: Friday, 18 September 2026 at 12 noon EDT
We’ve made voting quick and easy. All eligible members will receive an email with direct voting instructions and a link to your secure online ballot. Simply log on to the IEEE CS election site in your email to cast your vote from anywhere in the world.
Only IEEE CS members without an email address in their member record, or those who have opted out of IEEE email communications, will receive a paper ballot package. Paper ballots must be returned by mail using the business reply envelope provided, or to IEEE Technical Activities, Attn: SGA, 445 Hoes Lane, PO Box 1331, Piscataway, NJ 08855-1331, USA.

Elected officers will serve a one-year term, and Board members will serve a three-year term, with all roles beginning on 1 January 2027. To help you make an informed decision, candidate biographies and position statements will be featured in the August issue of Computer magazine, delivered straight to all IEEE CS members.

For each elective office of the IEEE Computer Society, individual voting members eligible to vote in the election may nominate candidates by written petition provided such nominations are made at least 28 days before the first published day of the 2026 election. The number of signatures required on a member petition is determined in accordance with IEEE Bylaws. Any member who wishes to seek elected office via member petition should contact amkelly@computer.org for more information.
The Board of Governors is responsible for providing policy-level guidance to all organizational entities within the Computer Society.
All professional IEEE CS members on record as of 11 June 2026 are eligible to vote in this year’s IEEE CS election (undergraduate and graduate student members do not hold voting rights). Ballots must be returned no later than 12:00 p.m. EDT USA/16:00 UTC on Friday, 18 September 2026. Results will be announced in Computer magazine's December issue and computer.org.
